Preparing for the season ahead
Our bi-annual Canadian Baptist Benefits Plan (CBBP) enrolment begins November 10: here’s what you need to know
A time for renewal
This fall, we’re introducing changes to the CBBP, our flexible benefits program, while ensuring the options for your Health and Dental coverage continue to be meaningful to you and your family.
From November 10 to November 23, you will need to make a new benefits election according to our plan’s new Health and Dental coverage options.
All members must re-enroll this year, actively choosing the coverage that works best for you and your family for the next two years.
We are committed to preserving the flexibility in our program while introducing changes that are necessary to help manage rising benefit costs and to protect the sustainability of our program over time. Our program is built on principles of fairness and cost-sharing between employees and employers, ensuring that everyone contributes to maintaining stability over the long term.
The CBBP is designed to provide a basic level of protection for all members, with a particular focus on “catastrophic coverage” so if a serious health event occurs, you are protected from overwhelming costs. This continues to be the focus of the plan and is why the new Health and Dental coverage options let you select coverage that’s suited to your current life stage and service.
Why we're updating our flexible benefits program
The demographics of the CBBP plan membership – such as age, family composition, and health needs – have changed over the years. While the impact of these shifts has been effectively managed over the years, including the ability to provide rate relief to our churches during the COVID pandemic, the unpredictable nature of increasing utilization and changes in the types of claims being submitted, combined with inflationary pressures, has placed growing demands on the plan.
As a result, the CBBP is now operating in a deficit. Consequently, we have had to revisit how benefits are structured to ensure the CBBP remains sustainable for years to come.
By sharing costs responsibly and aligning the CBBP with today’s realities, we can continue to provide meaningful coverage that reflects why the program exists in the first place: to protect our members, balance affordability, and safeguard the plan’s sustainability well into the future.
Look out for your updated re-enrollment materials!

Looking ahead with purpose
Change can be a moment to pause, reflect, and renew.
While more details about the changes will be shared in the coming weeks, we invite you to be mindful as you begin preparing for this year’s bi-annual enrollment:
- Review the claims you’ve made over the last two years,
- Think about the health and dental expenses you expect to have over the coming two years, and
- Consider how your choice will need to support your own health and wellbeing, and enable you to best serve others in the ministry.
We thank you for being part of a community that continues to care, lead, and grow together.
